Access to Services and Denials By Department

Mr R. J. Poultney made this Official Information request to Canterbury District Health Board

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Mr R. J. Poultney to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Mr R. J. Poultney

Dear Canterbury District Health Board,

I am writing to request information relating to patients being given access to services.

In this request, I am seeking the following:

1. Number of patients referred by their provider to tertiary services, broken down by department/area;

2. The Lower Quartile, Median, and Upper Quartile of time (in days) it takes for a referral to be responded to by CDHB staff, with the response being an actual appointment date (not an acknowledgement of the referral);

3. The number of patients referred but not given access to the tertiary services;

4. The percentage of referrals where actions were undertaken (triaged, referred back to General Practice etc) i.e. a denial for services, and with that outcome not being given within the first 20 working days to the patient/referrer.

As I understand, this data should be easily available via existing information systems and ERMs.

Yours faithfully,

Mr R. J. Poultney

Dear R J Poultney

We are seeking further clarification of your request CDHB 9635:

Can you please clarify for question 1 your interpretation of “Provider” –
are you looking for referrals from GPs specifically i.e. patients
domiciled within Canterbury DHB area or anyone who referred to CDHB
tertiary services.

Kind regards
