We acknowledge receipt  of your email dated  14  June 2017 under the Official Information Act (1982) requesting 
the following information from Canterbury DHB. 
 
1. Number of patients referred by their provider to tertiary services, broken down by department/area; 
 
2. The Lower Quartile, Median, and Upper Quartile of time (in days) it takes for a referral to be responded to 
by CDHB staff, with the response being an actual appointment date (not an acknowledgement of the 
referral); 
 
3. The number of patients referred but not given access to the tertiary services; 
 
4. The percentage of referrals where actions were undertaken (triaged, referred back to General Practice 
etc) i.e. a denial for services, and with that outcome not being given within the first 20 working days to the 
patient/referrer. 
 
We will  endeavour to respond to your request  as  soon as possible and in any event  no later than 12  July 2017, 
being 20 working days after the day your request  was received. If we are unable to respond to your request  by 
then, we will notify you of an extension of that time frame.
