Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
Dear Mr Brown,
Thank you for your email received on Tuesday 29 November 2016.
In response to the question "Why is the Catalyst Fund advertised on the
Royal Society website if it is an MBIE managed fund?" we wish to provide
you the following information:
As with other science-related funds, the Royal Society of New Zealand
administers Catalyst: Seeding and Catalyst: Leaders programmes on MBIE’s
behalf. The Royal Society of New Zealand has been contracted to do this
because they are an independent body with the ability to form expert
panels, and hence provide fair assessment processes based on a high level
of scientific knowledge. Catalyst: Strategic and Catalyst: Influence are
mentioned on the Society's web-pages so that researchers and their
organisations can see, and access the full range of support available
under the Catalyst schemes.
