Christchurch City Council

Dear Mark,

Thank you for your email, received on 25 July 2016. You requested the
following information, under the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):

“The total budget amount ($NZ), for the GREAT BRITTEN exhibit.

The total cost ($NZ) so far spent on the GREAT BRITTEN! exhibition
including all related costs up until 24/07/2016 (Marketing, Travel,
Alcohol, Food etc)

The total amount ($NZ) paid to the artist Billy Apple for creating the
GREAT BRITTEN! exhibition.”

Response

The total costs to date of Billy Apple's project Great Britten! are
$36,355.65. This figure includes travel of $232.80 and courier costs of
$530.30.

Catering and staff costs for the opening were $6,034.80 + $199.00 for
invitations. Please note, none of this was for alcohol, which is a
sponsored product.

The remainder was spent on miscellaneous materials, catalogue reprint and
an artist's fee. It should be noted that the specific gallery space has
been enhanced as a result of this project, so these improvement costs
effectively bring down the costs of future exhibitions in this area.

Withholding of information

The Council has decided to withhold the amount of the artist's fee under
the following sections of the LGOIMA:

-          7(2)(b)(ii) – to protect the commercial position of the person
who supplied or who is the subject of the information; and

-          7(2)(h) – to enable any local authority holding the information
to carry out commercial activities.

In the Council's view the reasons for withholding these details are not
outweighed by public interest considerations in section 7(1) favouring
their release.

You have the right to request the Ombudsman to review this decision.
Complaints can be sent by email to [1][email address], by fax
to (04) 471 2254, or by post to The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington
6143.

Yours sincerely,
