Aeds in complexes
Aj wright made this Official Information request to Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities
The request was refused by Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities.
From: Aj wright
Dear Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities,
I hope you are doing well.
I am reaching out to enquire about the number of Kāinga Ora social housing complexes across New Zealand that contain more than ten occupied units within a single complex or site.
In addition, I would be interested to know how many of these larger housing complexes currently have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available onsite for residents and visitors in the event of a cardiac emergency.
With New Zealand’s aging population, particularly within social housing communities, access to lifesaving equipment such as AEDs can play a critical role in improving emergency response outcomes during sudden cardiac arrest events.
Any information you are able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Aj wright

I refer to your official information request dated 12 May 2026 for
information about Kainga Ora complexes and AEDs.
The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our
decision, to 22 June 2026.
This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at:
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Kia Ora AJ
Thank you for request for information under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act), received on 15 May 2026.
On 8 June 2026, Kâinga Ora notified you that the time limit for responding
to your request had been extended under section 15A of the Act, as
consultations necessary to make a decision on your request were such that
a proper response could not reasonably be made within the original time
limit.
We have considered your request under the Act, and can advise you that we
have decided to provide you with information requested. However, the
administrative process for releasing this information is taking longer
than anticipated. We expect to be in a position to provide this response
by Friday, 26 July 2026.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act, to seek an
investigation and review by the Office of the Ombudsman of this delay.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by calling 0800 802 602.
