Westport siding rail movements.

Dear KiwiRail,

I am seeking information on the rail movements at Westport, my questions relate to the numbers over the past year and anticipated.

The Westport line is essentially a siding providing access to the track maintenance yard.

I would be satisfied with the history log from the barrier arms, both Palmerston and Queens St have barriers.

I would expect the log to detail the dates, times and duration of the arms movements.
I would expect the barriers to have been activated for something like 50 to 100 times in the previous year.

Please provide the rail movements through the Palmerston St rail crossing;
1/. Over the past 12 months.
Ideally with the logs detailing the dates, times and duration of the barrier arms operation.

2/. Anticipated for the next 12 months.

1/. Over the past 12 months.
 Ideally with the logs detailing the dates, times and duration of the
barrier arms operation.

2/.  Anticipated for the next 12 months.

 

We received your request on 25 January 2026, and will endeavour to respond
to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than 23
February 2026, i.e. the 20 working days after the day your request was
received.

 

If we are unable to respond to your request by then, we will notify you of
an extension of that timeframe.
