Thanks for your email. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of detail. My understanding is that the film “A Doctor’s Wife” has played in various venues around the country in the last few months, and was going to be shown at Auckland University. However, I understand a decision was made that resulted in the film not being shown. I wonder if the first step could be to check with the Vice Chancellor’s office. They could perhaps check if they have information about a request to play the movie at the University in the last few months.
Hopefully that helps with tracking down the information requested.
Ngā mihi

Dear Julia,
I refer to your request of 5 October 2025. Under section 12(2) of the OIA, a request for official information must specify the official information requested with due particularity. You requested the following:
"I request a copy of all communication held (including emails, letters, texts and a summary of any phone calls) relating to the proposed showing of a documentary "A Doctor's Wife" at Auckland University and the subsequent decision not to show it."
You have not provided sufficient information for us to establish whether there was a proposed showing of "A Doctor's Wife" at the University of Auckland or to locate any documents about it. You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with the University's response.
Yours sincerely,
Landon Watt

Thank you for your response. You have not referred to my further message providing more information and suggesting you check with the office of the Vice Chancellor to see if they held any records about the screening of the film or decision not to.
I do not agree that my request lacks due particularity. That would suggest you don’t understand what information I am asking for (as opposed to not knowing where the information is held within the university), On the plain reading of the request I am asking for information held about a decision to screen the film and a decision not to screen it. That identifies clearly what information I am asking for. In my clarification I noted it has been screened elsewhere in the last few months, so the information would be likely to be held in the recent past.
Please can you advise what steps you have taken to check if the University holds information about “The Doctor’s wife”, such as contacting the Vice Chancellor’s Office.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Ngā mihi
