Dear New Zealand Police,

You are currently issuing Infringement Notices (Under the Land Transport Act 1998), and requesting members of the public receiving these notices to make payment to "Police Bank Account" with number supplied as "03-0049-0000802-27".

Unfortunately, the detail for Payment on the Infringement notice is incorrect and fails the CoP (Confirmation of Payee) test when attempting to make payment.

Section 141/3 of the Land Transport Act 1998 is very clear "must be paid into a Crown Bank Account"

Can the NZ Police please confirm the Name, and Bank account number.

Can the NZ police please confirm that the Account receiving these funds is indeed a Crown Bank Account.

Can NZ Police please confirm the number of Infringement notices issued with this error since CoP went live across the board at Easter 2025.

Can NZ Police (Infringement Bureau) advise the number of emails / letters / communications they have received on this matter since November 2024 when CoP commenced.

The Infringement Bureau has been requested to provide the correct account information but there remains radio silence from them.

Yours faithfully,

John Machin

Not sure why Police claim to have received your request on the 12th of August. You sent it on the 8th and it certainly entered their systems very quickly. That's when it was received - not when they happened to notice it.

That means their response was due no later than the 5th of September. You may wish to consider complaining to the Ombudsman about this unlawful delay.
