Prosecution Uplift Programme (PUP) - information regarding spending of funds allocated to PUP

A. Marie made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for A. Marie to read a recent response and update the status.

From: A. Marie

Dear New Zealand Police,

In reliance of the Official Information Act 1982, I request the following information.

How much funding has been given to the New Zealand Police by the Government for the Prosecution Uplift Programme since the programme commenced in 2023.

Please provide details regarding exactly how the funding for New Zealand Police's Prosecution Uplift Programme was spent. In particular, how was this money spent, and what outcomes did PUP / the funding deliver.

In a Beehive release dated 22 May 2025, Police Minister Hon Mark Mitchell is quoted as saying,
"There is also new funding of $60 million over four years for the Police Prosecutions Uplift Programme (PUP)". Further, "The programme started in July 2023 in Auckland, and its success there means it will now be rolled out nationally."

Please provide details regarding any and all feedback received from New Zealand Police employees regarding PUP, and any responses from New Zealand Police to that feedback (including any feedback received from employees which was not responded to, and reasons why such feedback was not responded to by the Police).

Yours faithfully,
Citizens
