providing a response. The University’s response follows:

 

I am requesting information under the OIA in relation to the Senior
Scholar Award awarded by the Faculty of Science.

 

I request the following:

 

(a) How many Senior Scholar Awards were allocated to Faculty of Science
graduating students in 2025? (i.e. those that received the award in 2025
to date).

45 Senior Scholar awards (9 of these were in conjoint programmes) were
allocated in 2024, for Faculty of Science students, announced in 2025
graduation.

 

(b) What method was used to calculate the GPA of graduating students from
the Faculty of Science in determining eligibility for a Senior Scholar
Award?

(c) Based on the GPA calculation method referred to in (b), what were the
highest, lowest, and median GPAs of Faculty of Science graduating students
who received a Senior Scholar Award?

The University does not hold these statistics and is not required to
create them under the OIA.  Parts (c) of your request is refused under
section 18(g) of the OIA.

 

(d) How many students graduated from the Faculty of Science in 2025?

The University of Auckland publishes information about the graduation of
is students on its Graduate Search database here

is refused under section 18(d) as the information is already publicly
available. 

 

(e) What was the median GPA of Faculty of Science graduating students in
2025?

(f) What was the mean GPA of Faculty of Science graduating students in
2025?
