in providing a response. The University’s response follows:
I request the following information on the University of Auckland Doctoral
scholarships for the Faculty of Science:
1. The number of scholarships awarded within the faculty of science for
each intake in the academic year of 2024
The number of Doctoral scholarships offered and accepted by students
within the Faculty of Science, in 2024 is as follows:
Offers made and accepted in 2023 for 2024 start: 8
Offers made and accepted in 2024: 35
Offers made and accepted for a start on 1 Dec 2024: 4
Total scholarships awarded and paid in 2024: 47
2. The average GPA of the successful applicants
3. The lowest GPA of a successful applicant
3. The highest GPA of an unsuccessful applicant
There is no formal application process ‘per se’ for the University of
Auckland Doctoral scholarships for the Faculty of Science. Applicants are
considered for scholarship at the time that they apply for admission to
the doctoral programme. The information requested is not contained within
any standard reports held by the University, it would require a manual
review of each application to determine the requested information. As the
custom statistics requested are not held by the University and the OIA
does not require us to create these, this part of your request is refused
under section 18(g) of the OIA.
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
