Dear University of Auckland,

I am requesting information under the OIA in relation to the Senior Scholar Award awarded by the Faculty of Arts.

I request the following:

(a): How many Senior Scholar Awards were allocated to Faculty of Arts graduating students in the graduating years 2021, 2022 and 2023 (i.e. those that received the award in 2021, 2022 and 2023)? For the avoidance of doubt, this includes winter and spring graduation ceremonies that occurred in the respective years.

(b): What was the method used to calculate the GPA of graduating students from the Faculty of Arts in determining whether they were eligible for a Senior Scholar Award for the graduating years 2021, 2022 and 2023?

(c): Will the GPA calculation method under (b) change for the graduating year 2024?

(d): Based on the GPA calculation method in (b), what was the lowest GPA of a Senior Scholar Award recipient from the Faculty of Arts in each of the graduating years 2021, 2022 and 2023? For avoidance of the doubt, this includes Winter and Spring graduation ceremonies.

(e): Based of the GPA calculation method in (b), what was the highest GPA of a Senior Scholar Award recipient from the Faculty of Arts in each of the graduating years 2021, 2022 and 2023? For avoidance of the doubt, this includes Winter and Spring graduation ceremonies.

Dear requester,

I refer to your request of 19 March 2024. As consultations necessary to
make a decision on your request are such that a response cannot reasonably
be given within the original time limit, the University has extended the
time limit for your request under section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA. The new
maximum time limit for the University’s response is 9 May 2024; we will
respond to your request as soon as reasonably practicable. You have the
right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are dissatisfied with
this extension.

Yours sincerely,
