Communications with Speak Up for Women
Tessa made this Official Information request to Casey Costello
The request was successful.
From: Tessa
Dear Casey Costello,
Under the Official information Act I request any and all communications (including emails, texts, letters, signal/whatsapp or equivalent messages and any meeting notes) between your Office and the organisation “Speak Up for Women” or any representatives of this group. I request this information from the date of my request back to when you became a Minister.
Please feel free to exclude from my request any incoming correspondence from this group where that correspondence received no response from your Office.
Yours faithfully,
Tessa

Dear Casey Costello,
I await your reply which is now several days overdue. I will be contacting the ombudsman tomorrow regarding your lack of reply given that you have not complied with your obligations under the Official Information Act.
Yours faithfully,
Tessa

Kia ora Tessa,
I note the minister claims that your request "was not received by my office from the FYI website."
This is incorrect.
We record all email delivery attempts. We have a record of the ministers.govt.nz email server accepting the message for delivery at 2025-04-14T21:09:19.654 UTC (9:19am 15 April 2025, NZST). Their email server responded with the SMTP protocol response:
'250 2.0.0 45ytjt25py-1 Message accepted for delivery'
At that point, the request had legally been "received" within the meaning of the OIA - regardless of whether or when the minister's email system delivered it to her mailbox, or if it came to the attention of her staff.
If you would like to make a delay complaint to the Ombudsman, you are welcome to contact me through help@fyi.org.nz and I will supply evidence that can be used by an Ombudsman investigator.
