Number of warnings or fines issued to dog owners taking their dogs along the Waihi Beach to Orokawa Bay track, 2023 and 2024 year to date

D Langley made this Official Information request to Department of Conservation

Currently waiting for a response from Department of Conservation, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).

From: D Langley

Dear Department of Conservation,

Almost every time I walk along the Waihi Beach to Orokawa Bay track (starting at the Waihi Beach north end) I see people walking their dogs along there (sometimes on leash, other times not).

I walk the track many times per week.

It clearly states at the beginning of the track that it is illegal to take a dog along the track.

Please advise:

In 2023, how many dog owners were (for taking their dog on the track):
- Warned
- Fined

In 2024, year to date, how many dog owners were (for taking their dog on the track):
- Warned
- Fined

Yours faithfully
