Land owner contributions for upgrading Yelash Road Massey
Barry Clarke made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Barry Clarke to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Barry Clarke
Dear Auckland Transport,
Please may i have information on how much money has been collected by Waitakere Council and AT from landowner/s in Yelash road for contribution to tar sealing the gravel road.
In approx the time frame of 1987-1990s there was a land block split into a number of titles at 15 Yelash road, by the owners ( Morleys ) which now number 15-23 Yelash rd.
The Morleys held a public meeting in Birdwood hall Massey which was attended by council staff and local residents to discuss there contributions to the road ( due to conditions of subdividing) as to when the road would be upgraded, this meeting took place in this 87-9? timeframe. Sorry i cant be more precise with when this happened , im getting the information second hand from my in-laws who went to this meeting and were landowners at 12 Yelash rd at the time.
Reason im asking as there road repairs currently been carried out at 12 Yelash rd and enquiring if the road will be upgraded to tar seal within this major repair.
My wife and i are the landowners now at 12 Yelash road .
I have spoken to the Manager of the development in progress at 8 Yelash road and he tells me that "they" are not contributing to any road upgrade from Birdwood bridge to entrance of 8 Yelash road, is this correct ?
Thank you for your time in advance to look into this request.
Yours faithfully,
Barry Clarke

From: Archives
Kia ora Barry,
Thank you for your enquiry. It was passed on to us by Auckland Council’s
Official Information team on 21 June 2024.
We have been checking through council archives and records for your
enquiry. I have looked through the Waitemata City Council Minute Book
Indexes for 1987 to 1989 but was unable to find mention of the public
meeting held at Birdwood Hall.
My colleague has checked the Land Use Planning and Environmental
Management Committee minutes and agendas for 1990 and found mention of a
subdivision on Yelash Road owned by Mr J I Morey (not Morley). For this
material, please see item 2F in the attached PDF titled WKCI A05-237. For
information about the cost of road improvements, see page 2, item 3 of
this PDF. I have then cross-checked the Waitakere City Council signed
minute book for November 1990 and have found that the recommendations of
item 2F were adopted on 13 November 1990. For this minute, please see
minute number 3192/90 ‘Scheme Plans of Subdivisions’ in the attached image
titled WKCI A05-271.
I have also checked through related subdivision files that have been
ordered from offsite storage. I have found a reference to a meeting of the
Waitemata City Council Planning Committee held on 12 February 1987 that
also mentions the Morey subdivision. Please see the attached PDF titled
WMCO A05-13. For mention of the cost of road improvements, see page 2,
item 1b in this PDF.
We have been unable to find anything else relevant to your enquiry in the
archives, but please do let us know if you have any questions or require
further information.
Ngâ mihi,
Heléna
