Thank you for your email of 9 November 2023 to the Department of
Conservation, requesting the following information:

 1. Please supply me with any/all information in relation to the leasing
of Motutapu Island farm.
 2. Please also send me any information on DOC requirements to work on the
island.

We are currently considering your request under the Official Information
Act 1982 (OIA).

To provide an adequate response to your request, we are wishing to clarify
the information you are seeking.

We are wishing to know the following:

o The timeframe for the information you are requesting
o Whether you are seeking information relating to only the farm at
Motutapu Island for both parts of your request
o The type of information you are seeking, for example, signed lease
agreements.

Please note that when requesting ‘all’ or ‘any’ information on a given
topic, this material could include but is not limited to internal and
external emails, as well as documentation, including draft documentation,
since the Department of Conservation’s formation in 1987. As such, we may
not be able to provide ‘all’ and ‘any’ information on the requested topic
and may refuse the request pursuant to section 18(f) of the OIA – as the
information requested cannot be made available without substantial
collation or research.

Accordingly, we suggest the timeframe for the information you are seeking
to be either current, for example, current lease agreements, or within the
last two calendar years. We also suggest requesting formal documentation,
such as final decision-documents, and/or signed lease agreements.

Could you please let us know your responses to our above queries, and any
further context, which may be valuable for the Department to adequately
respond to your request, by close-of-business 21 November 2023, so we can
continue processing your request in accordance with the OIA.

Alternatively, if you are wishing to verbally discuss your request with
us, please message the Department of Conservation’s OIA email address
listed on our webpage -
[1]https://www.doc.govt.nz/footer-links/con...
- and we can arrange a time to chat with you.

Many thanks for your email.

To clarify, are you seeking lease documents currently in place for the
Motutapu Island farm only for part one of your request?

For part two of your request, are you seeking an explanation on the
process and/or the relevant application forms for obtaining a lease to
graze/farm on Motutapu Island? In addition, or alternatively, are you
seeking an explanation on the process and/or the relevant application
forms to undertake other concession activity on Motutapu Island?

Thank you for your assistance.
