Dear Clint Owens,

Please limit this to Teitei Drive, Ohakune then, received by either Kāinga Ora or Ruapehu District Council. Renee Regal should have copies of all of these, including RDC emails as all communications was responded to by KO. Please provide copies of them too

Lodged to Ombudsman:

I write to you regarding an OIA that was lodged with Kainga Ora where they refuse to release information regarding the number of complaints, or provide copies of emails received from the public with regards to Teitei Drive Ohakune.

A full copy of the questioning and responses can be located https://fyi.org.nz/request/24298-total-c...

There is high public interest in the question and it was asked in parliamentary questioning on 2nd August 2023
At the time, a response was not provided because “It is still in the middle of its engagement process, and it is too early to provide a full summary.”
You can view the WPQ here https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/order-pa...

Kainga Ora provided a similar report for other projects, but refuses to provide one for this project in Ohakune stating it would be too difficult to collate the information.
Considering this is a common question and reports have been provided historically, one would expect a report would exist for projects, there is even a complaint process on their website.
You can see a report provided in September which was for a number of projects around the country that had high complaint queries.
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/assets/Publica...

We are of strong belief that all correspondence passed via Renee Regal; we have seen evidence that Ruapehu District Council forwarded all enquiries through to Kainga Ora to respond to queries.
We believe this information is being withheld purposefully to ensure the project at Teitei continues without any scrutiny from the public or ratepayers.
