Dear A Moseley,

I am writing in response to your correspondence requesting the following
information:

* total number of assaults on post workers since 2010, and include
information regarding:
* Region

* Assaulted by (For e.g. human or dog)

* Days off work

Please be advised we are treating this as a request for information under
the Official Information Act 1982. 

 
 

This email is to acknowledge that this correspondence was received by New
Zealand Post on 22 August 2023 and to advise that in accordance with the
act a response to this request will be provided no later than 19 September
2023.

With regards to your request may I ask that you reconfirm the following
information is what you are requesting please.

o It relates only to physical assaults 
o It relates only to actual physical assaults and not near misses 
o It relates to workers that deliver mail – e.g. delivery partners and
delivery agents

Dear A Moseley,

Further to your request under the Official Information Act dated 22 August
2023(as detailed in the email below), this email is to give you notice, in
accordance with section 15A (1) (a) of the OIA, that NZ Post requires an
extension of time to be able to provide the information requested. 

The reason for the extension is due to the fact the information you have
requested is not accessible via our system by region. As it is an
extensive amount of data, we will require more time to abstract the
information and group it by region as per your request.

We are extending the period in which to provide you information to 26
September 2023 but will endeavour to provide you with the information
earlier if possible. 

You have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to make a complaint to
the Ombudsman about this extension.
