Hello,
I would like to add two questions to this information request, being:
How long has the bureau been affiliated with or accredited as a ‘Rainbow Tick’ employer?
What are the costs that are involved with maintaining this certification?
What were the upfront costs for becoming accredited?
Please provide copy of any contracts signed, any other applicable conditions or criteria your agency must abide by as part of accreditation.
I completely understand that this extends the due date for response until the 4th of May.
Many thanks,
Regan

New Zealand Post Limited
Kia Ora Regan,
Please finds responses to your request as follows:
Official Information Act request – Toitu Services and Costs
1. How many years has your office been affiliated with Toitû?
We have been receiving Toitu carbon inventory verification and
certification for 11 years.
2. How much does it cost your office to maintain certification, including
fees from Toitû and costs related to meeting these requirements.
Information pertaining to the cost is withheld under section 9 (2) (b) of
the OIA for commercial sensitivity reasons.
a. If different, what were the initial up-front costs to achieve
compliance with certification standards and achieve certification in the
first place?
N/A
b. What processes were taken to achieve a Gold Enviromark for the New
Zealand Post Mailroom's Operations, and at what cost?
This is an historic certification which we no longer hold records of
and is therefore withheld under section 18 (e) of the OIA.
3. Does the office plan to achieve Carbon Zero/Carbon Positive
certification, and if so, why, and under what timeframe?
No.
a. If not, why?
NZ Post intends to continue reducing emissions under the Carbon Reduce
programme and prioritise funding for emissions reduction rather than
carbon offsetting at this stage. NZ Post has committed to becoming Carbon
Neutral from 2030 and will re-evaluate the appropriate certification at
that time.
4. Has the office considered other certification/auditors, or in-house
auditing of their climate emissions as an alternative to Toitû?
No, NZ Post has a long-standing relationship with Toitu and at this stage
we are not reviewing our external carbon inventory auditing services.
