Half price fares and Total Mobility card holders
Michael Brenndorfer made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Auckland Transport should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Michael Brenndorfer
Dear Auckland Transport,
The Minister of Transport and the New Zealand Transport Agency have stated in public and on their website that half price fares discounts on public transport will continue from July 1, 2023 for those 8-24, Community Service Card holders, and Total Mobility Card holders.
NZTA also stated on their website that the half price fares is in addition to the standard subsidies already in place for Total Mobility card holders.
However, from the 1st of July Total Mobility card holders have lost the 50% discount on public transport in Auckland, and have returned to their standard 40% discount off adult fares. It is also stated on your own website that the half price fares scheme no longer applies to Total Mobility card holders.
As your application of this half price fares scheme and your public statements about it on your website and social media differ from all official statements from the ministry and NZTA, I am requesting the following information:
- All communication Auckland Transport recieved from NZTA in relation to the half price fares scheme as it relates to Total Mobility card holders
- Any internal documents or communication regarding the decision made by Auckland Transport to stop the half price fares discount for Total Mobility card holders
- Any internal documents or communication which relating to the communication on the Auckland Transport website relating to the changes to the half price fares scheme in relation to Total Mobility card holders.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Brenndorfer
