currently undertaking work on NZ horror production in the 21st century,

I am a researcher with expertise in horror media. I am currently undertaking work on NZ horror production in the 21st century, which includes a focus on the role short-form media formats (including web series and anthologies) play in media ecosystems. This will appear alongside work from researchers from other countries and contexts.

 

For context, the intention of this research is to ask “how have horror films [and related genres and media] been produced in the twenty-first century?” This information will help me build a picture of the production, importance, diversity and impact of this work, and situate the work produced in Aotearoa alongside international titles. Understanding Aotearoa’s unique funding, production and broadcast context is an important part of this research.

 

With this in mind, I am writing to request information on the TVNZ television series Beyond the Veil ([4]https://www.tvnz.co.nz/shows/beyond-the-...), which was broadcast in March and April of 2022, and which is now available to stream on TVNZ+.

 

I am asking for:

 

1) as much information as you have available on the funding and development of Beyond the Veil, including but not limited to the series' genesis, original pitches, funding arrangements where appropriate (including what specifically was funded), decision-making, pre- and mid-production information and assessments, and post-project reporting (including discussion about success metrics, or future potential seasons).

 

2) any other information pertaining to Beyond the Veil that fits within my description above re: production, funding and broadcast contexts, and is not covered by the above categories

In this documentation, platform support provided by TVNZ is redacted.
Section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Act applies in that the amount spent on
platform support is commercially sensitive.

In this documentation, information pertaining to projects outside of your
Official Information Act request is also redacted given this information
is not relevant.

 

TVNZ declines to provide copies of unsuccessful props due to the
significant number of submissions received, and the personal information,
and commercially sensitive information, in those documents.  Section 18A,
9(2)(a) and 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Act applies.

 

TVNZ also declines to provide all email correspondence between
commissioners and producers on successful projects due to the volume of
emails. Section 18A of the Act applies.

 

In lieu of this documentation, TVNZ is able to offer an interview with
