Cost benefit analysis of government licensed rental property inspectors
M Coulthurst made this Official Information request to Ministry of Housing and Urban Development
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Housing and Urban Development should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: M Coulthurst
Dear Ministry of Housing and Urban Development,
A Stuff article posted 26 August 2022 states, "In April, the now former associate housing minister Poto Williams was asked why it was left to tenants to enforce the healthy homes standards. She said the “cost of introducing licensed inspectors would outweigh the benefits”.
I would like to request any information held by the Ministry pertaining to any study, analysis, working group, or paper; conducted between April 2012 and the current month; to weigh the costs and benefits of introducing licensed property inspectors (for rental properties).
Yours faithfully,
Matthew Coulthurst
