Precise location of fixed speed cameras throughout New Zealand

Response to this request is long overdue. By law New Zealand Transport Agency should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

I'm interested in developing an app for mobile phones and portable devices to promote safety information to people travelling unfamiliar roads. These people may be tourists or visitors from another part of the country.

I'd like the GPS co-ordinates of all fixed cameras located throughout new Zealand. I'm assuming speed cameras are located in situations where it is especailly important for drivers to control their speed. This is one of the sources of safety information I'll be using for my app.

I'd like the information in electronic form. Ideally it can be made available in the form of an API so that any changes can be automatically updated for drivers.

Dear SMITH, Jason,

My request was passed to you from NZTA 15 September 2014. I'm not sure why you refer to 9 October as the date of my request. You have responded 2 December. I don't believe your response has met the timeliness standards for OIA requests. You have not sought any clarification from me or provided any explanation for your delayed response.

Your response is also inadequate in my view. I requested the GPS co-ordinates of all fixed cameras located throughout New Zealand. I asked for this information in electronic form. Ideally, in the form of an API. Your response states that at some point you intend to release general location information, not GPS coordinates. Suggesting that what I have asked for is, or soon will be, publicly available is a nonsense.

I will take up your offer to complain to the Ombudsman.
