CCTV and ANPR Cameras

Dear Dunedin City Council,

I am writing to request the following information (for a total of 4 requests):

1. A list of all public facing CCTV cameras owned or operated by Dunedin City Council (DCC) and Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs) where possible.

2. A list of all Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras owned or operated by DCC and CCOs where possible.

For each camera identified by requests 1 and 2, please include in a spreadsheet the GPS coordinates, a description of the location, and the brand and type of camera (e.g. Axis PTZ 360).

3. A list of all planned public facing CCTV cameras to be installed by or on behalf of DCC and CCOs where possible.

4. A list of all planned ANPR cameras to be installed by or on behalf of DCC and CCOs where possible.

For each camera identified by requests 3 and 4, please include in a spreadsheet the GPS coordinates of and/or a description of the planned location, the brand and type of camera (e.g. Axis PTZ 360) to be installed, and the planned installation date or timeframe if known.

I write about your LGOIMA request received 27 November 2024 regarding CCTV
and ANPR Cameras.  An email was sent to you on 27 November 2024 advising
of a partial transfer of your request that related to CCO’s to Dunedin
City Holdings Limited pursuant to section 12 (b)(i) as we do not hold that
information and believe that Dunedin City Holdings will be able to respond
to your request.

 

Please find below the answers to your questions raised for Dunedin City
Council.

 

 

 1. A list of all public facing CCTV cameras owned or operated by Dunedin
City Council (DCC) and Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs) where
possible.

 

 

 2. A list of all Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras owned
or operated by DCC and CCOs where possible.

For each camera identified by requests 1 and 2, please include in a
spreadsheet the GPS coordinates, a description of the location, and the
brand and type of camera (e.g. Axis PTZ 360).

For each camera identified by requests 3 and 4, please include in a

Please find attached the information you have requested. 

 

Please note due to substantial collation the information you have
requested is not provided in the way preferred but has been supplied in
the format held by Council pursuant to 15 (3) (a) and (b) of the LGOIMA.

 

The Dunedin traffic cameras document the traffic cameras do not have ANPR
capability. At this time there are no planned additional public facing
CCTV cameras.

 

The CCTV DCC Landfill document cameras 3 and 5 have ANPR capability. At
this time there are no planned additional public facing CCTV cameras.

 

The spreadsheet for Property and Parks indicates which cameras have ANPR
capability.  At this time, it is not known if any new CCTV cameras will be
installed.

 

Please note we do not hold the GPS coordinates for any CCTV cameras and
therefore your request is declined pursuant to section 17(e) of LGOIMA is
declined at the document alleged to contain the information requested doe
not exist.

 

As we have declined to provide some information you are advised that you
have the right to seek a review by the Office of the Ombudsman.
