Dear Tammy,
I refer to your request of 4 August 2022. As consultations necessary to
make a decision on your request are such that a response cannot reasonably
be given within the original time limit, the University has extended the
time limit for your request until 1 October 2022 under section 15A(1)(b)
of the OIA. This is the new maximum time limit for the University’s
response; we will respond to your request as soon as reasonably
practicable. You have the right to make a complaint an Ombudsman if you
are dissatisfied with this extension.
Yours sincerely,
Landon Watt

Dear Tammy,
I refer to your email of 4 August 2022, in which you requested information
under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) regarding the recent
establishment of the New Zealand Refugees Advisory Panel, which is a part
of the international initiative known as Refugees Seeking Equal Access at
the Table (R-SEAT) and hosted by the University’s Centre for Asia Pacific
Refugee Studies. Our staff have provided the following statements to
address your requests.
“1- Does the advisory panel involve people from the disabled and rainbow
refugee communities, please?”
“None of the panel members have publicly held themselves out as belonging
to the disabled and rainbow refugee communities. Belonging to any one
particular community was not part of the selection criteria, however,
inclusivity and how members intend to represent and be accountable to
refugee communities were part of the selection criteria. All panel members
demonstrated experience in promoting inclusivity in their work and working
closely with vulnerable communities including disabled and rainbow refugee
communities.”
“2- Have the disabled and rainbow members of the refugee communities been
consulted or participated in the process of establishing or selecting this
panel?”
“Members of disabled and rainbow refugee communities were involved in the
process of establishing and/or selecting the panel.”
Yours sincerely,
Landon Watt
