I would like to request a copy of the briefing referred to here.

On 29 August 2022, due to the necessity for further consultation and review, the timeframe for responding to your request was extended by 20 working days, to 27 September 2022. Thank you for your patience while this process was completed.

This email advises that a set of documents will be released to you. Some portions of the documents are being withheld under the following sections of the OIA:
6(a): to avoid prejudicing the security or defence of New Zealand or the international relations of the New Zealand Government;
6(b)(i): to protect the passing of information from another government on a confidential basis;
9(2)(a): to protect individuals’ privacy; and
9(2)(g)(i): to protect the free and frank expression of opinions by departments.

Where information has been withheld under section 9 of the OIA, no public interest in releasing the information has been identified that would override the reasons for withholding it.
Please note that documents two and three of your OIA request were the same document, a reporting error caused this to be recorded under two separate names. Therefore seven documents will be provided to you.
The relevant documents are in the final stages of preparation, and will be sent to you as soon as possible.
