WHV have been treated unfairly this year
Hannah made this Official Information request to Phil Twyford
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Hannah to read a recent response and update the status.
      From: Hannah

    Dear Phil Twyford,
Recently, a large number of Chinese WHV applicants have been rejected by INZ because of their academic background. They have been treated unfairly!
Compared with the previous rules that high school education or above was accepted but in this year high school education was regarded as the only criteria!! And many applicants were rejected by the immigration after submitting bachelor's or master's degrees.
And I would like to know, If the applicants have higher degrees, can’t they also show high school completion as well? That not fixing the rule but convincing INZ to accept the evidence given.
This sudden tightening of processing requirements is not fair to us. Since the previous years of WHV approval criteria recognized high school and higher education, the applicant thought that the previous criteria would be followed this year, while the visa officer said that the previous implementation was a "mistake" and refused to accept our documents, but this “mistake” should not be borne by us.
Having no prior no knowledge of the sudden shift of INZ's approaches towards visa assessment, coupled with extreme mental anguish this has caused us, we are pleading to you to grant us an exception to instructions just this once.
An announcement or an emphasis of the education requirements and INZ's implementation can be made for future applicants so that they will be fully aware before making an application
We thank you for your kind consideration
        From: Hon Phil Twyford
