Design of new bike stand in Te Komititanga
Rebecca Cox made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport
The request was successful.
From: Rebecca Cox
Dear Auckland Transport,
This OIA is in relation to the new bike stand (with plants and signage) which has recently been installed in Te Komititanga outside McDonalds.
Comments on social media indicate that the stand isn't ideal for cyclists, and there has been some speculation about the design process - hence this OIA as an effort to better understand that process.
What was the design process used to come up with the stand as installed, and who did it involve?
What end-user needs, and other stakeholder needs were considered as part of the design process, and how were these needs prioritised against each other?
What design standards were referenced in the design process?
How was/are the design, installation and ongoing maintenance of the stand funded?
What research has AT done to ascertain the effectiveness for cyclists of the different types of bike stand hardware?
With thanks and kind regards,
Rebecca Cox
