COVID-19 Risk Assessment

Peter Russell made this Official Information request to Department of Conservation

The request was partially successful.

From: Peter Russell

Dear Department of Conservation,

According to your website: "As part of the policy development process, DOC undertook a risk assessment of the measures needed to best protect staff from the risks posed by COVID-19. This is required by health and safety law and is an expectation of all government agencies."

I request a copy of the risk assessment.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Russell

From: Peter Russell

Dear Harry Maher,

The information you provided does not include an assessment of how requiring workers and visitors to "hold a My Vaccine Pass (vaccination only)" minimised the risk of people becoming infected by SARS-Cov-2 (erroneously referred to as COVID-19).

Your reply indicates a heavy reliance on Ministry of Health advice and states that "the risk assessment determined that vaccination against Delta... presented a higher level of protection as a control measure and significantly moved the profile of risk down in terms of likelihood of transmission and severity of consequence." It goes on to state confidently that "the control measures implemented have been effective and fit for purpose."

Such confident conclusions must have been backed by solid data. I require you to provide all the data used by the Department to reach those conclusions.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Russell
