Chinese National security check delay

Ivy made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Ivy

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

Hope this email finds you well.

My parents lodged their Returning Resident Visa application on 26 June 2021 (application number 20354002). On 13/07/2021, we received an email from a INZ support officer from the Fiji office, requested the INZ1029 form and the latest 5 years concurrent employment/ education history ( 2016-2021) from my parents. We provided the documents on 14 July 2021, and we received the confirmation of receipt from the office on the next day.

Please see the timelines below after the 15th July:

- 13 September 2021 we emailed to the officer to follow up on the application
- 14 September 2021 we received an email from the visa officer, advising there're some delay due to the impact of COVID -19 and the current lockdown
- 17 November 2021 we received an email from the support officer, requested a CV from my parents, we provided on 19 November, the officer confirmed receipt on 29 November
- 21 December 2021 we emailed to follow up on the application
- 18 Jan 2022 the support officer replied and advised the email had been forwarded to the visa officer
- 11 Feb 2022 we emailed the support officer again to follow up, as we didn't hear back from the visa officer
- 14 Feb 2022 the support officer replied and Cc'd the visa officer

And 1 month past, we still haven't hear anything back from the visa officer. It has been almost 9 months, just wondering what is processing time for the visa will be.

Yours faithfully,

Ivy
