query about departing NZ after applying RV21 by making a resignation for an emergency

The request was successful.
From: Y.K.S. Vutukuri
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
I am currently on Work to residence visa which will expire in the month of June 2023. I have already applied for RV21 visa on the 4th of march under settled criteria (phase 2). Currently, I have an emergency situation in my country. When I checked with my employer about taking leave, the leave request was canceled due to business requirements. Can I still resign from my job and go back to my country??
Do my RV21 visa will still be processed even if I leave my job and depart NZ? I am on an employer-assisted work visa, so I am not sure about this and making my query.
Thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Y.K.S. Vutukuri

Thank you for contacting us.
I will try to answer your question generally, but will be unable to
disclose any information off your file.
Once you have lodged your 2021 RV there is no requirement for you to
remain in NZ while this is being processed. Applicants are able to travel
out of NZ and INZ will continue to process their resident visa while
client is offshore.
You will be required to meet the 2021 RV requirements on 29/Sept/2021 and
on the date of lodgement of your application with INZ.
If you reply to this email, please include your full name and date of
birth, passport number, application number or client number and we can
provide specific information relation to your file.
I hope this is helpful.
Ngā mihi,
Ivy
