Visitor Visa on 21 September 2022

Davinder Singh made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Davinder Singh to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Davinder Singh

Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,

I applied my parent’s visitor visa on 21 September 2022. My parent’s visitor application has been sitting under the under assessment status for over 5 weeks now.

I have submitted all the important documents with application in first place such as Medical of my Parents, Police clearance certificate, Bank Statement, proof of their arrangements of the house while their visit to New Zealand.

I submitted the application on 21 September 2022. The INZ website says that the Visitor Visa Application will be processed in 44 days and it is 48 days as today since I applied the application.

I missed one of my occasions to celebrate and the tickets getting expensive now.

Only I want to know that what will be the timeframe to gets my application processed. So, I could arrange the tickets in the time before it is too late.

Yours faithfully,
Davinder Singh

Hello Davinder,

Thank you for your email received on 2 December 2022 requesting under the
Official Information Act the following:

“I applied my parent’s visitor visa on 21 September 2022. My parent’s
visitor application has been sitting under the under assessment status for
over 5 weeks now.

I have submitted all the important documents with application in first
place such as Medical of my Parents, Police clearance certificate, Bank
Statement, proof of their arrangements of the house while their visit to
New Zealand.

I submitted the application on 21 September 2022. The INZ website says
that the Visitor Visa Application will be processed in 44 days and it is
48 days as today since I applied the application.

I missed one of my occasions to celebrate and the tickets getting
expensive now.

Only I want to know that what will be the timeframe to gets my application

late.”

We appreciate that there are a number of people who have been waiting to
enter New Zealand and understand the difficulties faced by those who have
been separated from their loved ones and acknowledge the additional
challenges for family members from non-visa-waiver countries. Since the
New Zealand border reopened, the demand for visitor visas has been around
three times higher than expected. Immigration New Zealand is aware the
large visa application volumes isn’t isolated to New Zealand, and that
other countries are experiencing the same level of demand for various visa
categories.

Due to the large number of applications received, processing times are
currently longer than normal. The Immigration New Zealand website was
previously updated quarterly based on the previous three months to provide
applicants with an indication of processing timeframes. As a result of the
border reopening, this is now more regularly being updated to provide a
clearer indication to applicants. The time it takes to decide an
application depends on a number of factors, including third party checks,
time taken to complete manual assessments (such as medical assessments),
and in some cases, waiting for information from an applicant. Once
Immigration New Zealand has received all the required documents, it is
unlikely that the applicant will receive any further update until a
decision has been made on the application.

You may wish to contact INZ directly to discuss your concerns. You can
find contact details, as well as information about making a complaint on
the INZ website (immigration.govt.nz/contact).

If the information provided is not sufficient, or if you have any further
questions, feel free to submit a new request via our online form -
