Dear New Zealand Police,

Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Warner
I refer to your requests received on 29 July 2014 and 8 August 2014, both
made under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), relating to
information on public place disorder and assault statistics for Auckland
CBD for the period from December 2013 to June 2014.
As you may already be aware, Official Statistics are published three
months after the end of each fiscal (30 June) or calendar (31 December)
year. Official Statistics for the year ending 30 June 2014 are currently
under production and will not be published until 1 October 2014.
Therefore, your request for statistics for the period from December 2013
to June 2014 is refused under section 18(g) of the OIA as the information
is not held.
Police publish Monthly Statistics Indicators
([1]http://www.police.govt.nz/about-us/publi...)
for "Public Place Assaults" and "Disorder" offences. Monthly Statistical
Indicators are provisional and drawn from a dynamic operational database.
However, they are counted differently than Official Statistics and are not
broken down by age band or by hour band. Therefore, they are not
comparable with the Official Statistics data we have previously supplied
you with.
I regret that on this occasion it has not been possible to provide the
information you have requested. If you have any questions please let me
know
As you may already be aware, you have the right under section 28(3) of the
OIA to seek a review of my handling of your request by the Office of the
Ombudsmen.
Regards,
Gavin Knight
Manager: Statistics

I'm guessing that you'll be lucky to get any 2014 data - that is a Tier 1 statistic, and from memory the Police don't release their 2013/14 stats until October.
