New Zealand Police
Dear Mr McGuiness
I refer to your request received on 16 April 2014 under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA) relating to information on crime in Auckland
for the years 2000 to 2013.
Attached are tables of recorded offences for Auckland Central Police Area,
Waitemata, Auckland City and Counties Manukau Police Districts and the
whole of New Zealand for the years ending 31 December 2000 to 2013 for the
following specified offence types and scene descriptions:
· Monthly breakdown of total recorded offences for scene
description "Licensed for Sale of Alcohol".
· Monthly breakdown of recorded Breach of Liquor Ban offences
· Monthly breakdown of recorded Assault offences for scene
description "Licensed for Sale of Alcohol"
· Monthly breakdown of recorded Assault offences for scene
description "Dwelling"
Please note that Police does not have a scene description of "On-license
premises" only "Licensed for Sale of Alcohol" which include off-license
premises.
The offence of Breach of Liquor Ban has been made obsolete by The Sale and
Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 which came into effect on 18 December 2013.
Under the new legislation Police will deal with breaches of alcohol bans
by issuing infringement notices, rather than by recording offences for
which offenders can be charged.
Please note that Police does not have an offence classification for
"Violence". I have provided Assault offences as a proxy. Also, dwellings
include not just houses and apartments but the surrounding land that the
dwelling is on.
The attached tables are publicly available on the Statistics New Zealand
website ([1]www.stats.govt.nz) for the latest two years and for each of
the Police Districts and Areas.
Finally, attached is a table of the number of Foot Patrols for the years
ending 31 December 2006 to 2013 broken down by month and by each day of
the week. Please note that annual data prior to 2006 are not available.
Please note that these statistics are drawn from a dynamic operational
database. Figures reported on different dates may vary, due to data being
continually updated in the relevant police system.
I trust this information meets your needs.

Gavin Knight
