I am requesting documents relating to reasoning and process behind the closure of the Grove Bush Waste Management facility (located at 1270 Grove Bush Woodlands Road, Grove Bush, according to the 2012 district plan), along with reports of the current status of the facility (e.g. environmental monitoring reports).

As per your Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act request
dated 25 January, the information that can be found about the closure of
the Grove Bush Waste Management facility (located at 1270 Grove Bush
Woodlands Road, Grove Bush, is below.

The property 1271 Grove Bush Road was designated as “D112 – Refuse Site -
SDC” in the 2001 Southland District Plan. When updating the District Plan
Council’s waste management department choose not to continue the
designation forward. Accordingly the designation on this site lapsed when
decisions were issued on the revised District Plan (2016).
Council is working through a plan to look at all old closed landfills and
any risks surrounding them.
If you have any concerns in relation to this response then you are able to
raise these with the Ombudsman in accordance with Section 27 (3) of the
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.
