Loss of residents park on Salamanca Road

Simon Mitchell made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council

The request was successful.

From: Simon Mitchell

Dear Wellington City Council,

Please provide me with any documentation that details the rationale behind the removal of a residents car park on Salamanca Road (there were four, now there are three). In particular, I would like to know why one park has been lost when a recent consultation promised one additional park (we were promised five).

Yours faithfully,

Simon Mitchell

Hello Simon,

Thank you for your request relating to the parking space change on
Salamanca Road.

Looking into this, I can advise that you are correct, and the residents
car park area was supposed to be increased by one car, while it appears to
have been decreased.

What has happened is the contractor undertaking the signage for the
Council installed the residents car park signage 1 space to the right of
the original location, instead of 1 space to the left – this resulted in a
net reduction in spaces. The Council has requested this be corrected as
soon as is practicable.

I am sorry for any inconvenience caused, but can confirm that there is
supposed to be an extra space, beyond what was there originally.

Kind regards

Chris
