Hi Stuart,

Thank you for you OIA request for:

"Does the New Zealand government collect data on individuals from social media and then use this data to target individuals with messaging and adverts or in any other way?"

The Department of Prime Minster and Cabinet (DPMC) is only able to respond to your request in relation to any information DPMC may hold and is not able to respond on behalf of all of the New Zealand Government.

Are you able to clarify if your request is for information DPMC may hold? Or are there other specific agency/agencies that you were wanting to request this information from?

Through clarification we can provide you with a response, which is hopefully more relevant to the information that you are interested in.

We would appreciate a response by 28 September.

Thanks
