Advice provided on the BDMRR changes

Terry Thomas made this Official Information request to Ministry of Justice

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Justice should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Terry Thomas

Dear Ministry of Justice,

Hello I would like all advice provided to the Ministry of Internal Affairs or any other ministry, agency or minister on the impact proposed changes to the Births Deaths Marriages and Relationships Registrations Act regarding self identification on birth certificates, and their impact on operations in prisons and the Corrections Regulations 2005.

I'd like advice similarly provided regarding any impact on the justice system, particularly any impact on the ability to track people's progress through the courts and justice system, or the ability to carry out background checks on people who might amend their birth certificates under the proposed changes.

Yours faithfully,

Terry Thomas
