I refer to your request of 21 January 2014 under the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act regarding State Highway 38 sealing
and subsequent considerations.

From the limited information supplied Council assumes that this references
the unsealed Waikaremoana Road across the Urewera ranges between Murupara
and Tuai.  The road at this point is outside of the Rotorua District and
beyond Rotorua District Council’s jurisdiction. Therefore Council has no
plans to seal the route itself. We suggest you contact either Whakatane or
Wairoa District Councils.

The section of State Highway 38 from Rainbow Mountain to the Rotorua
district boundary is already sealed and of a high standard.

We are obliged to advise that you may contact the Ombudsman at the address
below if you have any concerns with the response provided by Council, by
writing to:

The Office of the Ombudsman

P O Box 10 152

WELLINGTON   6143

Or alternatively by email to [1][email address]

Regards
