From: Michael Skellern

Dear Auckland Transport,

My daughter was involved in a major accident resulting in her vehicle being severely damaged (it will be written off).

I am not sure if the location would be under your jurisdiction i.e. if you have a camera at the intersection of the on ramp and Oteha Valley Road or NZTA as I have found old footage covering that area from the motorway looking south, so I am approaching both organisations. I supervise the CCTV cameras in another city so I know how much of a pain these requests can be, I will therefore try and provide as small a window as possible that needs reviewing.

Location: Red stop/go lights on the Oteha Valley, south bound on ramp to the Auckland-Waiwera Motorway.

Time: On 12/06/2020 I received a call from my daughters cell phone, made by a bystander at 1650hrs, the police had not made it to the location at that time so the accident had only just occurred therefore I am requesting a review of any applicable camera footage from 1635 - 1650hrs.

In particular I am looking for the speed at which the vehicle that hit her was traveling as it sounds like that driver may have been racing another vehicle up the on ramp. I am also looking for if the other driver even braked as there is reason to believe he may have been distracted by a cell phone at the time.

If you are not able to release the footage to myself could I request it be archived for any possible future police inquiry.

Yours faithfully,
M.R. Skellern

Good Morning Michael,

I have been advised by NZTA that they also have a request for this
footage. As two duplicate requests have been made, NZTA will look for any
footage, save this and advise accordingly. If this incident is captured,
the NZ Police will need to submit a request to have the footage released
to them.

Accordingly,  this case will now be closed.

Kind regards,
