Alan Thompson made this Official Information request to Fire and Emergency New Zealand

The request was successful.

From: Alan Thompson

Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,

FENZ is undertaking a project to replace the fire station of the Lake Okareka Volunteer Rural Fire Force with a new facility. You advised the Select Committee that the cost of this new station was budgeted at $1.9million and that it was “a difficult site”. Lake Okareka is approx 13Km from the Rotorua Fire Station and the National Training Centre. Lake Okareka has some 500 residents.

Under the provisions of the Official Information Act can you provide the follow+ing information:
1. The number of structure fire calls Lake Okeraka has been turned out to as the first responding brigade for each of the years 2013/14 to 2017/18?
2. The number of vegetation fire calls Lake Okeraka has been turned out to as the first responding brigade for each of the years 2013/14 to 2017/18?
3. The number of MVAs calls Lake Okeraka has been turned out to as the first responding brigade for each of the years 2013/14 to 2017/18?
4. The number of HazChem calls Lake Okeraka has been turned out to as the first responding brigade for each of the years 2013/14 to 2017/18?
5. The number of De-contaminations the members of the Lake Okareka have undertaken over the years 2013/14 to 2017/18?
6. The Business Case as prepared and approved for the rebuild of the Lake Okareka VRFF station including the analysis of the needs for the re-build?
7. The engineering report relating to the “difficult site” and what additional works were required to overcome the difficulties of that site?
8. Provide a breakdown of the cost which make up the $1.9 million.

Yours faithfully,

Alan Thompson
