Homes Lost or Destroyed

Alan Thompson made this Official Information request to Fire and Emergency New Zealand

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Alan Thompson to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Alan Thompson

Dear Fire and Emergency New Zealand,

SCION have recently published information relating to the "Increasing loss of homes in RUI wildfires (1988-2021)". This includes a graph of setting out the history over this period. I have been unable to get from SCION the source of their data for the year 20/21.

Under the provisions of the Official Information Act could you please provide me with:

1. The FENZ definition of what a "Structure" means in terms of fire incident data?

2. The number of wildfire incidents that occurred in 2020/21 within the Rural/Urban Interface (if FENZ records/reports this information).

3. The statistics for 2020/21 of the number of homes destroyed as a direct consequence of a wildfire incident.

4. The statistics for 2020/21 of the number of home damaged as a direct consequence of a wildfire incident.

Yours faithfully,

Alan Thompson
