Plea Bargaining

Brendon Mills made this Official Information request to Ministry of Justice

Ministry of Justice did not have the information requested.

From: Brendon Mills

Dear Ministry of Justice,

I would like to know how often plea bargaining (ie an offender pleads guilty in return for a lesser charge/sentence) is used in the New Zealand justice system.

Just a general figure will suffice. I accept that you are not able to provide details of single cases.

Yours faithfully,

Brendon Mills
