New Zealand Police
Dear Mr Jordan
Thank you for your request received on 17 June 2013 under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA) relating to information on total
complaints/referrals to Police by the Accident Compensation Corporation
(ACC).
Police does not produce statistics on the number of complaints or the
complainants in recorded offences. Therefore, your request is refused
pursuant to section 18(g) of the OIA, as the information is not held by
Police.
Police publishes statistics according to offences specified in
legislation. Official Statistics for recorded offences for "Breaches
Accident Compensation By Fraud" are available on the Statistics New
Zealand website (www.stats.govt.nz).
As to the second part of your request, the response made by Superintendent
Drew dated 7 June 2013 has stated the reason for refusing your previous
request.
Although for the reasons above none of the information you have sought has
been provided with this letter, I trust my response is still helpful in
guiding you to the online holdings for such data.
As you may already be aware, you have the right under section 28(3) of the
OIA to seek a review of my handling of your request by the Office of the
Ombudsmen.
Yours sincerely,
Catherine Cotter

Dear New Zealand Police,
1/ In reference to the above statements and the statement provided in reply 7 June 2013, would this imply no complaint has been made
2/ If the NZ Police are approached and 'Involved' in safety matters such as the one the Accident Compensation Corp refer to in their letter dated 30 April 2013 ( https://fyi.org.nz/request/813/response/... ) i.e. Harassment, Death Threats and threats towards their families. Would it be expected, by law, to make a formal system record of such discussions or contact for future Police reference in case any of these threats were to be carried out?
Yours faithfully,
Anthony Jordan

I suggest you check the comprehensibility of your request before you send it. There is an incomplete sentence ("Dates of any referrals and subject of"). You should have supplied the hyperlink to the 6 June 2013 request to which you refer for their ease of retrieval.
