I'm requesting the following information regarding dogs impounded at Kaitaia and Horeke pounds.
Number of dogs euthanised by month from Jan 1st 2018 to Oct 22nd 2018.
Number of dogs that died by month while in pounds from Jan 1st 2018 to Oct 22nd 2018.Also the reason why the dogs died while impounded.
Number of dogs rehomed by FNDC , not dogs that were taken by a rescue group or SPCA by month from Jan 1st 2018 to Oct 22nd 2018.
Number of dogs taken to be rehomed from a rescue group and SPCA by month from Jan 1st 2018 to Oct 22nd 2018.

Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“the
LGOIMA”).
Your request
Regarding dogs impounded at Kaitaia and Horeke pounds.
1. Number of dogs euthanised by month from Jan 1st 2018 to Oct 22nd
2018.

2018 to Oct 22nd 2018. Also the reason why the dogs died while impounded.

Council’s response
Please refer to the attached document for the answer to your questions.
The figures include those dogs that are euthanised for the following
reasons:
· surrendered by their owner for destruction
· found unsuitable for rehoming as a result of failing the
behaviour assessment
· court ordered
· those that do not go to the pound as they are not well (ie parvo
positive or welfare concern) and were taken to a vet in the first instance
resulting in a vet decision to euthanise.
· Dogs died in pound – generally the reason being is suspected
parvo, however we do not test already deceased dogs.
