Dear Ms Hulburt

On 24 October 2018, Housing New Zealand transferred your request for
information, under the Official Information Act 1982, the following
information to the Ministry of Social Development:

Total number of people waiting for a HNZC house in Marlborough and what
the longest period of time is that somebody waited for accommodation to
become available in the last five years.

On 25 October 2018, the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) then
transferred your request to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development
(the Ministry) for response.

I am writing to advise you the Ministry will provide a response but needs
to extend the time available by 20 working days to answer your request.
The Ministry’s response will be with you no later than 20 December 2018.
The reason for this extension is that consultations are necessary to make
a decision on your request.

In the interim, it may be of interest to you that the Ministry recently
released the September 2018 Public Housing Quarterly Report and Housing
Regional Factsheets which provide the latest facts on public housing
supply and demand, housing support, and the movement of people through the
public housing system.  Copies of these reports can be found on our
website here:
[1]www.hud.govt.nz/news-and-resources/news/tracking-progress-public-housing/.

MSD has also released the September 2018 Social Housing Register which
shows the number of households eligible for, and awaiting public housing.
You will also find demographics broken down by age of the main applicant.
The Social Housing Register, which consists of the Housing and Transfer
Registers, can be found on MSD's website here:
[2]www.msd.govt.nz/about-msd-and-our-work/publications-resources/statistics/index.html.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[3]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

Kind regards
