NIMT electric locomotive withdrawal

Dear Ministry of Transport,
I am querying to see if you currently have any plans to intervene or have intervened with KiwiRail's decision to withdrawal the entirety of the electric locomotives used between Hamilton and Palmerston North, and replace them with diesel locomotives? And what is the Ministry/Government's stance on the issue, are you in favour of retaining electric services? If this matter is not under this Ministry's jurisdiction then could it passed onto the people involved with it.
