Family court cases average waiting time and caseloads statistics

Zane Collins made this Official Information request to Ministry of Justice

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Ministry of Justice should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Zane Collins

Dear Ministry of Justice,

I would like to request the statistics of NZ family court cases wait times and caseloads also take into account any cases currently waiting to be scheduled, factoring them into the delay estimates.

I want them to be grouped per region, per year from 2010 to 2018.

Example: from the date the first application is received by the court until a date allocated for a final hearing.

Yours faithfully,

Zane Collins

I am an Australian with no support in nz all alone and currently waited 7 months now with no court date..why does the process take so long ? It's a stressful situation for everyone involved and is made worse by waiting long periods of time..I have put in for an emergency hearing as my physical and mental health has deteriorated with the stress of the time spent waiting..I even told my case manager I have been suicidal lately and he said oh well you can leave your kids here and go home if you want this ti be over..how do we get treated like this with no regard? I was also told I have a slim chance of winning as ex is a new Zealander....I will be going to Australian media about your backward court system..
