Dear Tom
I refer to your official information request dated 18 January 2018 for the
cost of Callaghan Innovation responding to all requests made on behalf of
the Taxpayers’ Union or by Jordan Williams over the current and previous
two financial years. You have also requested for the costs to be broken
down by financial year and into staff time and material costs.
I am writing to advise you that we need to extend the deadline for this
request until Friday 23 February 2018, under section 15A(b) of the OIA.
Responding to OIA requests from the Taxpayers’ Union has involved multiple
business units, and further consultation is required in order to produce
an estimate of the full cost of responding to these requests.
In partial response to your request, the number of requests we have
received from the Taxpayers’ Union or Jordan Williams in the current year
up to the date of your request and the previous two financial years is:
o FY 2017/18: 40 (please note this includes 14 similar requests from
individuals seeking further details about information released only to
the Taxpayers’ Union)
o FY 2016/17: 2
o FY 2015/16: 3
You have the right, under section 28(3), to make a complaint to the
Ombudsman about this extension. Information about how to make a complaint

Hi All,
I have seen some online discussion about this request, I did not make the request to suggest that the government shouldn't be open or transparent, I made the request because I was curious to know the very real costs imposed by a group that is ostensibly about saving the government money.
