Driver Licensing Costs
Cody C made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency
The request was successful.
From: Cody C
Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,
Please provide the following information in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982.
1. The actual cost, or most recent near estimate, incurred by the NZTA, or its partners (as applicable), for an application for a full class 1 or 6 license
2. The actual cost, or most recent near estimate, incurred by the NZTA, or its partners (as applicable), for a practical test for a full class 1 or 6 license
3. The amount of surplus ($) that NZTA derives from driver licensing fees, if any
3. Supporting documents & justification used at the time of publishing the Schedule "Fees for driver testing and driver licensing" in the Land Transport (Driver Licensing and Driver Testing Fees) Regulations 1999
4. It appears the fees were last changed on 1 July 2010. Please advise why the fees have not changed in the subsequent years given that it is highly likely that the associated costs would have also changed during this time.
For the purposes of the Act, I am a New Zealand citizen and residing in New Zealand at the time of making this request. You generally have 20 working days to respond to this notice, as required by law. Your response will be published publicly on the fyi.org.nz website.
Yours faithfully,
Cody C
